Get to know the Bowl
-
The venue sits in a naturally bowl-shaped area of the Hollywood Hills, originally known as Daisy Dell. The setting was selected partly for its natural acoustics.
-
The Bowl is older than the Hollywood Sign! Its beginnings date to 1919.
-
The Bowl is one of the world’s largest natural amphitheaters, seating nearly 18,000 people while still feeling closely connected to the surrounding hills and trees.
-
It is both a concert venue and a public park. The land was deeded to Los Angeles County in 1924 to preserve it for future generations; today, the County owns the Bowl and operates it in partnership with the LA Phil.
A night at the Bowl
Dance parties, group picnics, brilliant music, unforgettable sights—there’s nothing like a night at the Hollywood Bowl.
Transforming youth in Los Angeles
Through YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles), young musicians receive free instruments and music instruction. At the Hollywood Bowl, they’ve shared the stage with artists from Stevie Wonder to Natalia Lafourcade, gaining experience before thousands of Angelenos.
